As a Patent Examiner at IPOPHIL, you will have a broad scope of work that includes conducting thorough reviews of preliminary search reports and formalities, determining final classifications and conducting final searches, evaluating search reports to determine prior art, conducting formality examinations, inviting amendments to correct formality defects, and preparing examination reports.
Your role as a Patent Examiner will be critical in ensuring that patent applications are thoroughly examined and evaluated according to the International Patent Classification System and the Intellectual Property Code.
One of your main responsibilities as a Patent Examiner will be to review preliminary search reports and formalities. This involves carefully analyzing the search reports to determine relevant prior art and conducting evaluations to ensure that the patent applications comply with formal requirements.
You will also be responsible for determining the final classification of the applications and conducting final searches to ensure that the patent applications are accurately classified according to the International Patent Classification System.
As a Patent Examiner, you will also be responsible for preparing examination reports that summarize the findings of your evaluations and provide recommendations for further action. This may include considering applicant arguments and proposed amendments, and recommending patent grants if the applications meet the requirements of patentability, such as novelty, inventiveness, and industrial applicability.
On the other hand, if the applications are considered by law as non-patentable inventions, you may recommend denial of patent grants. In cases where applicants fail to respond to IP Rights Specialist’s actions within the reglementary period, you may recommend withdrawal of applications.
The position of Patent Examiner at IPOPHIL requires candidates to have a degree in Engineering or Science from 2016 onwards, with preference given to fields such as Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Agricultural Engineering/Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
Candidates should also possess good oral and written communication skills, proficiency in MS Office software, and be highly-motivated, willing to learn, flexible, service-oriented, a good team player, and physically fit. In addition, candidates must have passed the PRC Licensure Examination or obtained Civil Service eligibility (CS-Professional) for non-PRC Licensure examination courses.
