In particular, PHIVOLCS offers job opportunities for its Seismic Hazard Assessment and Design Earthquake of the Philippines (SHADE Project) under the Strong Motion Network Development and Earthquake Engineering Section of the Seismological Observation and Earthquake Prediction Division (SOEPD). The agency is looking for individuals with a background in geology, civil engineering, applied physics, computer engineering, information technology, computer science, communication, and other related courses.
PHIVOLCS is seeking to fill the following positions until February 10, 2023:
- Senior Science Research Specialist with a monthly salary of Php 59,802
- Computer Programmer III with a monthly salary of Php 54,244
- Science Research Specialist II with a monthly salary of Php 45,780 (2 slots available)
- Computer Programmer II with a monthly salary of Php 42,116 (2 slots available)
- Science Research Specialist I with a monthly salary of Php 35,758 (3 slots available)
- Project Information Officer with a monthly salary of Php 30,527
The successful candidates should possess strong project management skills, technical knowledge and writing skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to work well in a team. They should also be innovative, detail-oriented, and possess problem-solving skills.
For the Senior Science Research Specialist and Science Research Specialist II and I positions, applicants must graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Applied Physics, Computer Engineering, or any related courses. They must have relevant experience, GIS instrumentation and programming skills, computer/technical skills, attention to detail, technical knowledge and writing skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
For the Computer Programmer III and II positions, applicants must graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any related courses. They must have relevant experience in systems design and development, database maintenance, and good interpersonal skills.
For the Project Information Officer position, applicants must graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication (Mass Communication, Development, Research, and Journalism) or any Geoscience-related courses (Geology, Geography, Environmental Science). They must have relevant experience in analytical thinking, attention to detail, audio-visual documentation, communication materials development, customer service, facilitation skills, managing media/public relations, presentation skills, project management, science research skills, and technical knowledge and skills in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Technical Writing.
